Have a look there: Windows Vista Help: Set up a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network It explains how to set up a ad-hoc network, then follow the link to share files. Hope it helps. |

Hi Bobis, What type of network card are you using with Vista? Only some devices can support crossover and its not a Vista issue. Steven

Funny thing, i did not read the windowshelp content in english but found and posted it. In France we call ad-hoc connection a wired (crosswire) connection between 2 computers, kwowing that it could be also a wireless ad-hoc if it is stipulated. Ahah maybe one day the same word in different langages will mean the same thing though ad-hoc is a latin word meaning more or less "link" |

Understandable - I just happened to know that in terms of wireless ad-hoc was 'borrowed' as a term for this situation. ALso, I thought ad-hoc actually meant 'temporary'....thanks for telling me what it means in reality. By that definition ad-hoc is the same as using a crossover cable as well, and also included the many other ways you could connect computers - USB, FireWire, Serial ports, Parallel port, etc....all those are ad-hoc. So, no worries- it was a n honest mistake. |
