| Newbie Rep Power: 3  |  Locking desktop drops network Whether I'm connected with cable or wi-fi, locking closing the lid on my notebook (stay's alive, not sleeping or hibernating) drops the network or Internet connection. I typically do this at night when I'm moving or downloading large files. |

 Antidisestablishmentarian    Rep Power: 106  | Re: Locking desktop drops network Check the properties of the NIC in Device Manager, specifically, if Windows is allowed to turn the device off to save power - if that is enabled, uncheck / disable it. |
