Does Vista interfere with internet browsers?

Since I got new computer with Vista Home Premium I have been experiencing problems accessing websites. The problem has been occuring on sites that require a login to access (like ebay) or have sophisticated search functions (like this property search site www.domain.com.au)

I get so far into the site and then get the "404 file not found" message.

On one site (Friends Reunited - Welcome to the new site - 19 million members) I originally couldn't even access the homepage (404 again), but after adding it to my 'trusted site" list I can not see the home page, but only the hyperlinks (in plain text) with no graphics or formatting.

I have no problems accessing these sites on our other computer (running XP).

I even tried using Mozilla rather than IE, but get their version of '404' in the same places that IE does.

I am lookiing suspiciously at Vista...

Can anyone help? Is there some setting somewhere I should tweak?

ETA:Seems to be an imcompatability problem with Trend Internet Security - if U turn it off it all works fine - yet this version of Trend is "meant" to be OK with Vista!

Grrrrr.

Re: Does Vista interfere with internet browsers?

i would put this to maybe a firewall or other software you may have installed

i have checked the the sites you linked and i have had no problems accessing them

if you can list and software that you have installed... ie comodo firewall, Norton ect this will help us and you self to find a solution

try process of elimination with anything like that you have installed like add blockers, firewalls, I.P blockers such as peer guardian and anti virus programs

doh i didnt see the edit lmao.... glad you got it fixed

Thanks for your time and input ripbox - but I dunno if I could cal my situation "fixed". To have an operating system that won't allow me any internet security and virus checking seems a real worry to me.
