| Newbie Rep Power: 3 ![]() | 56k dial-up limited connectivity issue Hello, I recently formatted, then installed vista home basic 32bit on my Mom's computer as well as a supposedly vista compatible modem. No software has been loaded on except for necessary drivers and MSoffice 2007 (no virus protection or other firewalls). I am able to connect to the university modem pool, but I am unable to get on to the internet. I have the yellow exclamation mark triangle for limited connectivity. I tried pinging some websites but they could not be found. I can only ping the server I have connected to and 4.2.2.2. I've installed all the latest drivers by copying them from another computer via CD. The only thing I have been unable to do was install SP1, perhaps because I was not doing it through automatic update. Loading it from a CD caused my computer to start hanging during the boot up so I had to do a restore. Oh and also I haven't authenticated vista yet cause i wanted to do it over the internet. Some of the things I've tried: Unchecking the IPv6 from the networking tab Disabling windows firewall and defender Attempting to use manually assigned IP Here's ipconfig: Windows IP Configuration PPP adapter Modem Pool: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 140.160.236.27 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0 Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 6: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::200:5efe:140.160.236.27%15 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 7: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Temporary IPv6 Address. . . . . . : 2002:8ca0:ec1b::8ca0:ec1b Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 9: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Here's the specs: Vista 32bit home basic Nexxtech 56K PCI modem, V.92 ABIT MB KX7 333R AMD 1800+ 1.5gigs kingston RAM 40gig WDC HD Any help would greatly appreciated.
