Whenever im playing cod4 online for example, then my bro wants to refresh the cod4 server browser on his own pc, i get terrible lag & a ping of 750+. Also the list of servers that show up for my bro have pings from 750+ I dont know whats causing this exactly but it happens if im playing on ps3 online game such as battlefield bad company then my bro tries to search for servers via steam so its not just cod4 causing this. ill mess around with some settings & see what i can come up with. btw my router is belkin f5d8633. |

I've done a lot of this with my brother on COD4. Same results. The thing is, pinging the master servers for a full server list requires a lot of bandwidth. So, if you don't have a really expensive connection (assuming you're in the States). Off it goes to find hundreds or thousands of servers and has to send you the data. But, it does this dynamically, so it's not like downloading a text file. It's like downloading lots of text files. The pings you see on those servers are reflecting what you've got on your computer while it is downloading there. A quick refresh basically just looks for the servers that are already there to check conditions, not to get all sorts of new information. Inherently, this keeps your values lower. The best system is usually to use the favorites sections of both games. I probably neglected something in the explanation, but it works as a thought exercise. Don't think there's something wrong there. It's just that you're taxing the poor thing quite a bit. It's normal. If you really want to kill the connection, both of you should get server lists at the same time. |

It might just be an issue with the latest beta firmware. I had to use it because of a few issues that needed to be fixed. |
