Disable SSID Brodcast then ppl wont know whats the network when the try to conenct. after that on the Wireless enable Preshared Key. and put in a pre shared key. or if u have any other authication server like RAIDUS you can use it or just use the pre shared key. this should make you secure . Hope this helps Cheers !! |

| Junior Member Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Re: Network Security Hello. I hope I’m in the right place to ask this question. I’m running Vista Home Premium 32-bit on my laptop. I recently did a factory pc reset, and now when I click on connect to a network, my local dial-up account is listed first in the dial-up and VPN section, but in the wireless section there are ten names listed. Some are security-enabled networks and others are Unsecured networks. When I right click these connections I get connect and diagnose as my only two options, but when I double click them I get: “Type in the network security key or passphrase for dodong (one of the names listed). The person who setup the network can give you the key or passphrase”…..WTH!!!!! What and/or who are these people? And more importantly how to I delete these wireless connections from my computer? I did not set up these accounts. Are they factory installed or do they belong to actual people? This is freaking me out!!! I can’t delete these names. When I hit the delete key nothing happens, and when I go to control panel>network and sharing center>manage wireless networks there’s nothing there. I will be signing up for wireless myself by the end of the month, but I want these names and connections gone before then. I need help finding where they are on my pc, how they got there, and creating secure wireless connections for just myself. Thanks in advance for your help (and point me to the right thread if this one is not it). |

Your wireless scans around for available networks - these are probably your neighbors and such. What you'll need to do is figure out which one is *your* router and connect to it. |

I have a Netgear that my Father gave me and everytime I try to do something with it I am asked for a password which I don't know and neither does he. Is there a way I can create a new one or bypass it somehow? Thanks, Case |
