sharing documents folder on local network

Hi,

I just copied all the contents of "my documents' from my XP machine to 'documents' on my Vista one.

I have a local network and can share other folders for which I've enabled sharing but not 'documents'.

I have enabled sharing on 'documents' (not the shortcut) and set permissions to 'everyone' and it looks like all is ok but I can't see the folder on my XP machine.

Any help would be appreciated.

You might could try using the Public folders - that is what they are there for....

Basically, yes. Anything in your user profile is meant to be kept away from other users on the machine (in a multiple user environment) as well as users that connect remotely to your machine.

Even having three accounts that have administrative privileges, you can't just go barging into someone else's folder willy nilly. Vista is a bit more secure than XP was in that respect.

To test it out just copy a couple of files to the public folder and see if they are able to access it - then you'll know for sure if you have a Vista / XP interface problem or it was just a protected folder problem.
