I can't connect my laptop (Vista home premium 32 with wireless connection) and Desktop (XP professional with cable ethernet connection ) in local network through wireless router D-Link (DI-524). Please help.

I assume that you are tying to get internet access from the dsl/cable modem to the router then to your laptop/desktop?

Huh? If the OP has internet access, then this is not an issue in them trying to connect two devices (read: clients) on their router to each other via wireless.

In the past when I have hooked up D-link wireless routers to cable modems I always have to change the default IP on the D-link router for it to work. That's been my experience with D-link.

He is trying to get them to see *each other* not the Internet.
Also, I have *never* had to change the default IP and I use nothing but D-Link for the last 7 years. Now, for security's sake, I change it anyway....
But the issue here is that it doesn't matter what the IP address of the router is, as that is supplying the DHCP server to both computers, and thus they should still be able to see each other - the OP is asking for peer connectivity, not Internet connectivity. Hence my reply to you.

There seems to be a lot of this going on with various people, and I haven't figured out a dominating factor, yet, but some of the things that we suggest are to make sure that both machines are on the *same* workgroup and have the same username and PW.
However, before we even do all that, I need to know - what exactly are you trying to do?

Thanks everyone. I did resolve the problem. I am using "Kaspersky Internet Security" and first i tried to stop the firewall but it didn’t help,so at the and I stopped the aplication and the connection was established.
