vista x64 can not see all computers on network

Hi everyone,

I am connected to a domain. My new workstaion uses vista x64 ultimate. My laptop uses vista business x32 and my file server uses XP pro SP3.

My configuration on the visa x64 machine has file and printer sharing checked for the network card. Network discovery and file sharing are ON in the network configuration.

When I use the \\file server name I can see the shared folders and access their files on the XP-pro machine from my vista x64 workstation. When I click the network icon on my desktop, only the vista machines in my domain are visible. Since I have access to the shared files on the xp file server using Run, \\computer name, why does this machine not show up in the network?

Moreover, why can I not see any other machines on my network?

My Vista x32 notebook is set up identically and it can see the XP-based file server when clicking on network, as well as every other computer in the domain.

My XP-pro file server is running XP SP3 which contains the Microsoft Windows link to download the LLTD update (KB922120) fix. At least that what I am told when I tried to install this hotfix.

Thank you for any suggestion you may have that can resolve this issue.
