| Vista Business 32bit | internet printing - can't install drivers for fax hello! this isn't a vista question, but you guys seem to know the solution to most of my problems so i figured it's worth a try! =) I just set up internet printing for a fax connected to our advanced server 2003 r2 64-bit. I am actually able to add it as an internet printer on my xp machine when i finally get to the part where it asks for the driver. I point it to the driver on the disk (this is a trendnet TFM-560U which uses the Agere driver) and it says 'The specified location does not contain information about your hardware.' Am I missing something? It doesn't even list the Agere company in the list of drivers after I just right-click on the inf and choose install. This is the same driver thats installed on the server (except it uses the 64-bit version)..should i use that one? Is there anyway to force it to use this driver even though it says..well, that its not a driver? also, on a side note - I used to be able to just goto the server.com/printers/ click on my printer, and choose connect on the left side. That option isn't there any more..is this a group policy setting i need to change? Thanks everyone! -Shea |

| vista64 | Re: internet printing - can't install drivers for fax It sounds like you need to find the correct drive for your system. I'd recommend going to Trendnet's website, finding the drive for that device that matches your OS, and downloading and installing it. Should work after that. |

| vista64 | Re: internet printing - can't install drivers for fax Here is the driver page: TRENDnet | Downloads | Modems | TFM-560U It appears that this device underwent a hardware revision a couple years ago. If you have a B1 model, you just need to download the driver package. If, however, you have the A1 model... you might be screwed. It doesn't have any Vista drivers (32bit or 64bit). |

| Vista Business 32bit | Re: internet printing - can't install drivers for fax it is actually an xp machine with the B1 model. I've tried both the driver from the website, and the driver off the disc. It hasn't been updated since 2006, and I just bought it a month ago :/ |

| vista64 | Re: internet printing - can't install drivers for fax If you're on a 64bit version of Vista, you should be using the 64bit driver. 32bit driver for 32bit Vista. |

| vista64 | Re: internet printing - can't install drivers for fax I dunno, man. I've never used this device. Have you tried putting it in another server or even a desktop and seeing if you can get to it from there? It basically acts like a printer, right? It installs itself as a print driver... you should be able to get to it. Perhaps you have not done the following, on the server: Printer Properties > Sharing > Additional Drivers > add the drivers for x86 to the server. If that doesn't do it... I'd try putting it on another machine. |
