AT&T DSL woes...

I am/was a Bellsouth DSL (1.5 Mbit) customers and ever since the merge or buyout from AT&T, I have been noticing my speed dropping at night, well, yesterday I blew a fuse because I couldn't go faster than 688 kbps after resetting everything + 1 hour with the tech support so I made them send a technician.

He came today at 8:30 A.M., speeds test were in the 2200 kbps (sure nobody is using the internet at that time in my area) but, what gets to me is the answer to my problems... My and my neighbors flood lights are drawing power from my fiber optic speeds!

Does this makes any sense to any of you? if so, can you give me a crash course on the why?

My only solution here is to call Comcast and buy a bundle from them so, I am going from dumb to dumber because Comcast Customer Service is rated #2... 1 being the baddest of them all.

That is precisely what I told the technician but he insisted on that being the problem.

Verizon doesn't come to my neighborhood yet so, it looks like I am either SOL or comcast is the lesser of two evils.
