Mapping to internet files

I understand there are a number of major bugs in Vista with regard to mapping Internet files, but does anybody know a workaround for the following:

If I attempt to map http://blogssite.co.uk:2077/public_html/ the system says this appears to be an invalid folder and will not let you proceed. If you access the same folder through IE8 x64 beta using the same format, absolutely no problems, including accessing the subsidiary folders on the server.

Separately uploading each invidual file generated by MS Publisher is proving a real pain.
