Wireless Networking issues

Hi, I'm new to the forums and I'm only 17 but I need some help with a problem.

My computer no longer recognizes any of my wireless networks. But when I go into "manage wireless networks" all of them are there. I've tried resetting the adapter and command prompts but it says that I am denied/blocked from accessing them.

In my Device Manager the only thing that has a little yellow triangle is a 'Non Plug Non Play' item called npkcrypt.

Is there any reason why I can't access the internet other then connecting my laptop directly to it?

I'm using an Acer with Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit.

Anyone know what's going on?

What exactly is the error when you try to connect to a network?

There ISN'T an error. It doesn't show any of the networks in the connect to a network menu. If I go to diagnose it tells me that I need to check the range of my wireless capabilities. But that's weird cause I"m literally right UNDER my wireless modem.

I always find network problems to be the hardest to diagnose.. hopefully someone else jumps in.

In the mean time, do you know the specifications of your wireless adapter well enough to attempt to find updated drivers/software for it, and reinstall the card?

Also are you using a firewall?

I don't know that much about computers to try something like that. Yes I'm using a firewall but that isn't the problem. I recently went somewhere else and reset my network adapter so it could pick up the signal from the network there. When I came back I haven't been able to use my wireless since. I've tried resetting the adapter, rebooting, etc etc. Nothings worked so far.

Reboot the router with the connection you are trying to connect to and then reset the adapter to automatically obtain IP in the TCIP/IP v4 setting.

I find more than not that the router develops a brain fart and although it allows existing computers with already ongoing connected situations, the router will not allow other computers to join until it is reset. Simply pulling the plug from the back of the router and waiting 10 seconds then replugging it in does the trick. If you do this with the computer that cannot connect off, when you turn it back on and then re start and re connect, everything will be back to normal.

This assumes that the router has DHCP enabled, the computer is set to "obtain IP automatically" and you have an existing connection set to auto connect in your list of "network connections" If you hard coded an IP into the adapter for the other location you went to, you will need to change it back to auto.
