Vista - Nothing works for 20min!

I Didn't get any help in the general discussion thread and I've been told it could be something to do with 'lanmanserver' but can't find this in services, hope somebody here can help.
I built my first ever system in December (vista 64) and didn't have a single problem it was all working fine, Until now!

last week I installed my new wireless printer and did a windows update (automatic turned off) ever since that when the desktop first opens it takes 20-30min to load Webroot firewall, antivirus and if I try to open any other application it just freezes so I have to 'end task' constantly. However I can still open internet explorer and Google! even though it say I'm disconnected in the start menu tray.

After 20-30min everything's fine and all software and applications load up as normal, the only thing that doesn't happen anymore is it used to tell me that "my system is protected against a single hard drive failure" due to the raid 1, I've checked the storage manager and the status now says normal although post printer installation it did say 'verifying and repairing'.

I'm puzzled to say the least, can anyone help me.

Maybe a heat problem. That's just a thought. Overheating can cause some strange problems.

Wouldnt have thought so cus its only when i first turn the system on, then all's fine after 20-30min. How could I check to see if its a heat proplem though?

Have you tried a system restore? I would try to restore it back before you got the new printer. Let me know if that works. (if you haven't tried it)

Hi again Nate, before I tried a system restore I uninstalled my new printer and rebooted the system, guess what? it loaded first time flawlessly.
So its defiantly a problem with my wireless printer any clues as to what?
