| Vista Home Premium | Vista host ICS troubles hello Vista gurus, I have been having great difficulty setting up ICS so that my client computer can connect to the internet. host computer = vista os client computer = XP os connected via crossover cable I have changed setting many different ways based on information i have found online, but the best I seem to be able to do is to get file sharing so that both PCs are listed when I "view computers and devices" in network and sharing centre on the Vista PC. I can access the internet from the vista PC, no problem, but I cannot access the internet from the XP client computer, although sometimes the network connection on the XP indicates it "is now connected at 10.0 mpbs". At other times (with exactly the same settings) it says there is limited or no connectivity". here is how I have it set up: - I have dual NIC in the VISTA PC *Settings on VISTA PC internet connection "Local Area Connection properties"* - in the sharing tab the "allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" is selected -in the networking tab "client for microsoft networks" and "file and printer sharing for microsft networks is deselected *Settings on VISTA computer second NIC "local area connection 2 properties"* - TCP/IPv6 is set to "obtain IPv6 address automatically" - TCP/IPv4 has a static IP address which was assigned by the host computer when I enabled ICS. the address is 192 . 168 . 0 . 1. The subnet mask is 255 . 255 . 255 . 0. There are no other values assigned. (if I "diagnose" this connection the message indicates it has an invalid IP address yet when i set it to obtain an IP address automatically and diagnose the connection the message indicates the connection has limited or no connectivity and as well, vista can no longer see the XP PC in Network and Sharing Centre "view computers and devices" from the Vista PC) In the network and sharing centre the internet connection is set to public and the other is set to private. Network discovery is on. File sharing is on. Public folder sharing is on. the XP adapter is set to obtain an IP address automatically. Below is the "ipconfig /all" result. Any advice you can give me would be very welcome. | Vista Home Premium | Re: Vista host ICS troubles Wow. Not single reply. Is this issue so difficult nobody has a solution? Hard to believe. Although, I have to admit, everyone I have talked to so far seems to know less about this subject than I do. |
