Hi guys!
One of my friends got a new Vista laptop and is so excited about it, but there is only one problem, she doesn't have an ISP. She has no phone or tv and I can't think of one to suggest to her. What ISPs do you think are good? She lives in New York City, Flushing. Thanks in advance!

Can't help with recommending any as I live on the other side of the pond but if she doesn't have a phone line has she looked into using mobile Internet.

I don't know what the situation is like over there but here a few of the mobile phone carriers also do mobile Internet, you get a dongle that plugs into the laptop and pay a fee per month and are allowed so much bandwidth.

She's looking for a cheap and easy solution. She needs a simple connection. She won't be using it a lot also, so there's no point in paying $50.00USD a month. Any suggestions? I don't think mobile internet is right for us.

Comcast Broadband, I am paying 36 a month for a 6 Mb connection.

At&T has what they call Lite DSL, I think is somewhere around 768 or less for about 20 bucks but I don't know if they will require a land line as well.

In that case I think she'll have to have a phone line installed unless she can go with Sky or Virgin something like that but I think they need a phone line.
Can't offer any more help than that, sorry.

its ok. BTW, we don't have Virgin or Sky here. We have:
Cingular
Verizon Wireless
T-Mobile
AT&T
Nextel
and Sprint

Me and her have T-Mobile and they just went 3G. Also for AstaLaVista I will check the services out.
