Hi, I am having a problem that when I connect to a VPN for work it disconnects my internet connection and I need to reboot the machine to the internet back again. I have tired to create a new VPN but the same thing happens, anyone out there that can help:sarc:

You should probably contact helpdesk at work and get them to check your settings first. VPN connections are relatively complex, especially if you're using a non-default VPN client (something not built into Vista by default).

No helpdesk available i'm afraid. I have tired this with XP and everything is fine. I have created a new one on a test machine, but still the same, its like vista is unable to have 2 conenctions running at the same time

What VPN client are you using?

What happens when you establish the VPN connection?

How exactly do you figure out that the internet connection has been torn down?

What's the error message, if any, when you try to re-establish the internet connection (prior to a reboot)?

I am just using windows VPN setup through network connections in control panel.

When I connect to VPN, it goes through and the LAN access turns to "local access only"
If I ask windows to why this happens: There is more that one active network connection on this computer.

I have tired to troubleshoot this error-
One suggestion was running route delete 0.0.0.0 for the gateway but unable to do this, the required operation requires elevation- even though I am logged in as admin

(The operating sys is home basic)
