How do i Decrease Ping?

Hello
I was playing left 4 dead, and i noticed that my ping was on 350.
I played on 10 different servers, and it was always around 350.
So, i closed up All the unecessary programs and i played again.
Again, 350. So, i was wondering, how do i decrease it?

Is it because it is wireless? Like, my reception is Excellent ~ Good.
My modem is Speedstream 4200, and the acess point is Linksys something.
My internet connection is 8MB Download, 400 Kbps Upload, which is good here in Brazil.

So i was wondering, why so much lag?
And SOMETIMES, when i leave my notebook idle for 1 hour, and i try to browse again, it won't find the page, but it still downloads in uTorrent.
Not only in my notebook this happens , but in all the Wireless Conected.

Note: The acess point is up on the Wardrobe, like 4 Meters up the ground and 10 meters away from me.

Ping is generally dictated by your ISP. There are a few things you can do.

1- You can disable Auto Tuning
2- Then download TCP Optimizer and manually input the settings you want then reboot
3- Defrag your entire hard dive then reboot and check your results.
4- Complain to your ISP

On speedtest.net use the spinning triangle closest to where you live, then post a screenshot like mine.
