connecting PCs

i have a laptop(vista) on which i use wifi, a desktop pc (XP) and a CAT 5E patch cable. Now can any1 help me to connect these together.The objective is to access internet on my destop pc(XP) by sharing the wifi connection from the laptop.

To connect two computers, use a cross-over cable.
