I'm trying to install IIS through the add and remove features but I keep getting this error. Is there an easy way to over come this error.

Re: IIS install error

Hi Stephen, I assume you're running an administrator account while trying to install it? How about trying to install thru WPI. Download it, then customize here what you want, or everything and see if it installs that way.

Download the Microsoft Web Platform

Re: IIS install error

Yes I am I even ran the installer with admin too and still get an error that nothing was installed. Looks like I'll either do a repair install or a clean install and see if it works then.

Re: IIS install error

You don't want to try it thru the WPI? Maybe it'll work. Or you meant you tried that too? I don't know why it wouldn't with either, sorry, not much help.

Re: IIS install error

This seems to pertain to your problem Stephen. May be some help in it...disregard all the MS bashing in it.

Problems Installing Windows Features on Microsoft Vista Ultimate - Please wait while the features are configured. This might take several minutes. - An error has occurred. Not all of the features were successfully changed.

Looks like you might have to repair or clean install to get it to install.

Yep that was the second try after I kept on getting that error with the add and remove features. Then that kept on giving me errors even when installing just one thing it took over 10 minutes and then the option you choose couldn't be installed.

Re: IIS install error

I did a clean install and it works now. Now all I need is to learn more about it and get a site running which I know to go here.

Re: IIS install error

Too bad you had to install Vista again to get it to install, but I'm glad you got it worked out though.

Re: IIS install error

I also did some resizing of my partitions too so it wasn't all that bad.

Re: IIS install error

Got another question do I have to have this running all the time or does it get started automatically when I login to my computer.
