| VISTA ULTIMATE SP2 | Using WiFi Hi, If I use the WiFi connection at the coffee shop or rest stop, the library, or your local park, you run a risk. Bad guys can intercept the transmission you thought was private. Don't broadcast your sensitive information. Can anybody suggest a free software that will protect my data, when using WiFi, in public places? Thanks Phillip |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Using WiFi lol, that is true but not likeley because the library and rest stop ect will have a protected network as there terms of use, else they face proicution and for the "software" if you have a pought program on your laptop like norton it will prevent intrusion attempts and virus so your "sesitive information" can only be stolen if your dumb enough to do your online banking from one of those places so do it at home other than that the only thing that can happen is so send so "top secret" work files from a coffee shop. infact the chances of that happening are close to nil unless you go on some doggy sites. if you have winows defender at the least not much is going to happed and if you have either internet explorer 7 or 8 you turn on phishing filter so its basicly impossible for you information to get stolen by a novice hacker the only way this could possible happen is if you disable all securit messures and go on so doggy sites and wait for the s*** to hit the fan |

| Home Premium X64, not impressed with W7 RC yet... | Re: Using WiFi Your best defense is not to use wireless, I'm assuming that's not an option, so your next best bet is to not use unsecured wireless. If that too is not an option, ensure your antivirus/firewall/malware protection software is always up to date, and exercise some common sense on what you do in public places. |
