Local System Network Restricted

Using Vista Ultimate 64:

A month ago I started to notice that when I went to bed at night on a Monday night the computer was fine and connected to the internet. When I got up Tuesday morning the first thing that I noticed was that the CPU usage, via the CPU usage gadget on the desktop, 4 core, was running up and down between 27% and 59%. While running it would allow me to do vitually nothing. The next thing I noticed was that I was disconnected from the WAN & Lan and it would not allow me to neither connect or troubleshoot. In order to get my computer back I had to do a restart. :confused:
Two weeks ago the problem changed from a Tuesday morning to Saturday morning but the identical scenerio.
What I was able to identify is that the problem is from, via services, "Svchost.exe", of which there are 15 of them running. The indivdual services showed: WSCSVC; IMHosts; Event Log; DHCP; AudioSRV:
In order to retake control I had to do the restart but this time when it restarted it showed that I was connected to an unidentified network. Reset the modem/router and all was fine.:huh:

This Saturday morning, same thing with the with the cpu usage meter and internet connection dropped. Under Services it was showing AVgaurd.exe 32 - Antivirus on Access Service and the svchost.exe - System host Process for windows service; when I open subprocess services it is showing 11 of them: wudfsvc; wdi system host; Ursms; PCA Svc; Netman; Irman; IPBus Enum; hidserv; EMDmgmt; AudioEndPointBuilder; Thes are showing "Local System Network Restricted" next to them all the while when "Running":cry: , evan after a restart these are still running so I am presuming that they are legit.I admit by some of the names of the services it looks like a rootkit or zombie programs but everything that I throw at the C drive comes back negative including Eset and Fsecure. I have no services scheduled to run at this time of the day. This time a restart brought everything up fine.
Are these legit MS OS programs; Don't know that is why I am asking as to which direction to go.

While my computer is showing disconnect from the network the router light is still blinking indicating activaty. Daughters computer running XP and running thru the same router/modem is fine.

Any help will be appreciated and can do one step at a time in order to elimanate or identify the problem.

yes I do, have never had any compatibility problems with Spyware Blaster, Spybot S&D, Windows Security Center and MalewareBytes.
The latest, Avira, was installed a couple of weeks ago, after Panda Cloud was uninstalled and removed.
This problem started before I switched to Avira.
Never know, so next friday night will disable Avira and see what it looks like Sat AM and advise. Never occured to me as I never had a conflict problem in my many years, but is very possible. Thanks for the possibility.

Re: please direct to appropiate

Here it is Sunday morning and once again I have the problem. So recap; origanally on Tues AM; for two weeks; for whatever reason it moved to Sat AM; one week; and now it is Sat AM and Sun AM. Prior to restart;
CPU usage 26% to whatever, disconnected from Internet:
Process:svchost.exe
Services: "Local Service Network Restricted" Event Log; Imhosts; Dhcp; AudioSrv; wscsvc. All like the 3/27/10 problem.
Have let it run for 20 minutes to see if the processes would end on their own, but they did not stop. Tomarrow will let run longer before a restart.
If this is going to be a daily thing should make it faster diagnois as far as disabling programs in order to troubleshoot.

What do you mean by Windows Security Center ? do you actually mean Microsoft Security Essentials, that is an AV so if that is the case then yes you have 2 anti virus programs running.

Is there any reason for you leaving the machine on every night, do you have programs that do their updating in the night ? Just wondering if you have problems if you turn the machine off every night then turn back on in the morning.

Re: please direct to appropiate

Sometimes when an Antivirus/Spy gets uninstalled it can leaf files behind and they can cuse a big problem. I would suggest that you remove all your Antivirus/Spy Software, and use removal tools where available. Then reboot 2 times run Ccleaner or similar software.Reboot. And Then Install "Sunbelt VIPER" Trail, as it runes on a completely different file system. So it will not interfere with any files left behind.
Let us know if that fixes your problem. ;)

@Joan Archer

On my operating system the name assigned by Microsoft is "Windows Security Center"; it contains Windows Update, Windows Firewall, Windows Defender and Internet Options.
And yes I am well aware that it has two or more av programs running at once and as previously advised there has in the past been no problems.

As to the other, that is an assumption on your part; the computer has been for over a year been put to sleep when inactive and no I am not turning it off every night for the sake of this problem as that is not a viable problem correction.

It has been asleep for over 12 hours now and when awakened there was no problems or conflicts, but it has not been after the midnight day change.

@caretaker
am hoping prior to removal to identify the problem. If problem persists then will remove and reinstall one by one starting with avira as it is the latest. What bothers me is that it appears to only be a problem on a particular night or in this case now two. Will see what happens tomarrow AM.

While I appreciate your suggestion, it bothers me that your suggested program is only as good as the free ones based on their own statements; "Bottom Line - VIPRE is a very good standalone antivirus tool that outscores all but the very best of its competition in my tests."

What are the very best programs and what are his tests?

All previous programs were/are always removed via their removal tools if availible.

Will advise as devolpments occur.

Re: please direct to appropiate

The programs you list running in Windows Security Centre are not anti virus programs, Windows Defender is a malware/spyware checking program.

The other programs you list are also spyware removal programs, do you have Teatimer running with Spybot S&D, I've heard that can cause problems.

As to the closing down at night no problem you didn't mention that you put it to sleep.

Re: please direct to appropiate

Tues AM and all is well; Ran CCleaner as an afterthought, couldn't hurt, last night. Will see what happens Sat AM. There appears to have been reminents of AVG uninstall and 7 Zip. May take time but as in anything I will overcome one way or another.

Teatimer has always been running, once again with no problems previously, but that could change with the introduction of the new trial programs.

Also try to stop all update/Disk defrag/ anything you can think of that may run at night.
And I suggested Viper as it didn't use any of the existing system files. For Testing only. And I personally don't trust any of the free antivirus/Spyware software as they only do a part of the job. Now I know that one can run 2 different types of security software to get an even better protection. But all that only slows a system down. You can't beat a single good Security software. I personally use VIPER and trust it. (More info available on reguest)

While origanally it appeared to cause the problem on a regular schedule, that has changed. I have as stated uninstalled aviara and will see what happens; that is why I am not downloading Sunbelt Vipre because of the 30 day trial period. I want to see what happens with avira unloaded/uninstalled. All other programs have been installed for an extended period and I don't consider them a problem @ this time.
Time will tell.
According to CCleaner the remnants of AVG have been removed.

As stated in a previous post, AVG was removed some time ago, ccleaner was run in order to remove the remnants. Avira was removed yesterday and after removal the internet connection was displaying a yellow triangle warning, I went ahead and did a restart and all is fine so far. Since then I have downloaded and installed superantispyware, pro free trial. will see how things go with it. Have also gone thru and deleted some programs that I had downloaded/tried over the past year and were not to my satisfaction.
Little by little, day by day I will overcome.

superantispyware pro, free trial. When free trial is up I am going to put it on the back burner and try a couple more so I know which ones cause problems and/or grief. So far SAS has done fine, believe that it did false alarm on an LG DVD Drive update, tho.

As an update, continue to have connectivity problems upon waking. Have removed Superantispyware pro because of expiration. Had installed avast and the problems continue so uninstalled it and am trying MSE. The connectivity problems continue. In checking the "view problem history" (unable to copy and paste) see that it has since last october [40] DHCP client "stopped working"; [7] Host Process for Windows Services "Windows Update Installation Problem"; [71] Internet Explorer " Webpage display problem"; [12] Network Diagnostic Framework " Unable to Diagnois/repair network problems". There a few others but they are from last year.
Report sent on all; but solutions availible, still not availible.

This is apparantly a OS services programs issue with vista as it includes multiple Microsoft program problems. Any body have any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.
