O.k. I've searched for this and cant find anything. I have 2 wireless cable modems. One an older Ambit 2000 wireless and another is a docis 3 Ubee. I'm beta testing the D3 modem for work and can hard wire into it fine, connect wireless with winXP just fine and on my ipod touch fine. Vista will see it, connect to it, but I get Local only. This is where I'm stuck. Vista will connect just fine to my other wireless connection just fine, using that one right now. Just through the D3 modem it wont connect to the internet.

Thanks

Do you have any security software on the Vista machine that could be blocking the connection ?

Can you give us a bit information about the machine you're trying to connect, make model, what security protection you're running, don't forget we can't see the equipment you have so without you giving us all the details the experts haven't got a lot to go on.

Its a Toshiba Satellite P305D. Amd 64 Mobile TL-60 2ghz 4 gig of mem 220g hard drive. Running Win Vista Home prem.

Only security that is running is AVG Free and Adaware. Forgot that windows firewall is active. I'll try and disable that and see if that does the trick. For wireless its running Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Net adapter. Any other info you need?

Running Toshiba Satellite P305D, amd turion 64 x2 at 2ghz. 4gig of mem and 220g hard drive. Vista home prem. Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Adapter. Turned windows firewall off and running afg free and adaware.

All it will do while trying to connect is it will say identifing, then say connected and local only. My other modem will connect fine to this computer wirelessly. Just this D3 modem I'm having issues with, and connects hardwired fine.

I'm no expert by a long way but it sounds as if the wireless part of the D3 could be broken, especially if the machine can work with a different modem and work if connected via wire to the D3.

Sorry I can't give any more help so if you want to wait and see what the experts have to say about it best of luck. ;)
