Unable To Access Internet or Network

I've recently restarted (recently meaning an hour ago) and now I cannot access the internet or my home network. I've tried a system restore from a time when it was still working, but there's nothing. I also tried "ipconfig /renew" but it gave me the following error:
The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation.
To test if it was a hardware problem i booted my Linux hard drive and found everything working fine.

Hmm, that is odd.

Have you updated your drivers recently?

No I havent, but I'm beginning to suspect that it might be a problem with the driver.
I've tried the netsh command and that turned up fruitless also.

Do you know how to update your network drivers?

If not, then what wireless card do you have? And what model computer?

Yes I do. It's not a wireless card. It's the built in Intel LAN connection on a Dell Inspiron 530 with the default motherboard. I found the drivers on Dell's website so I'll try that.

EDIT:
Maybe I should dig up the disks to the computer.

Next to the battery, in the bottom right corner of your screen, you should see the icon for the internet (two computers layed on top of eachother). Right click on it and select network and sharing centre, and then upload a screenshot of that please.

Sorry, forgot to mention this is the Inspiron desktop. Also, I found the problem. Apparently my ESET personal firewall isn't working and that somehow disabled LAN connections. Now I am having problems getting the firewall to work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice but it still will not start. Anyone have experience with ESET?
