Corrupted Downloads

I have just re-installed Vista on my machine and updated SP1, SP2 and all of the latest updates.

I have an issue where all downloads via IE7, IE8 or Firefox are corrupted. Browsing and windows update work fine. Has anyone else seen this? It very odd, it all worked before I re-installed but I didn't change any hardware.

Other machines on the same router work fine, this is how I downloaded the service packs and other software. Then have to transfer via USB stick.

Try hooking up your modem to another computer and see if the downloads work. If not, then contact your own ISP tech support.

But if it works fine on another computer and the problem only persists on your one computer, then you can try a download manager like download accelerator plus (DAP): Download Accelerator Plus - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Try downloading something with a clean boot: Download Accelerator Plus - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

And also just to be safe, go into safe mode and run the elevated command prompt and type in: sfc /scannow
and also try to reset winsock: How to Do a Winsock Reset | eHow.com

im not sure if a winsock reset will work though

I changed my USB to Ethernet converter from the D-Link to and Belkin and everything is working okay now. It's odd though that the D-link worked fine before I re-installed vista.

I noticed when downloading with the D-link that it would always be a constant 1.1Mb/s when it should have been slower than this. Very odd.
