Low Wireless Signal

This has happened to me before, but I can't remember how I fixed it...

My laptop only works when it's plugged in all the time because of the battery. But my sister unplugged it and the battery drained completely in 2 mins. The date & year changed which I know is a sign that I need a new battery, but it's been working fine as long as I keep it plugged in...

But since I've turned it on, I can't connect to the internet again because there is "Low Wireless Signal" from the router, even though the network has a 5 bar signal and I'm sitting next to it. And my iPod, my Dad's Mac, and my sisters laptop all connect to it fine.

I've tried switching the router off for 30 seconds and then turning it back on again to no avail...

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

(I'm not great with computers, so I might not understand what to do if there is a solution, so a step-by-step solution would be really helpful)

UPDATE

I reinstalled my wireless adapter driver and now a different message is coming up. saying Make sure the computer is in range of the network and that the settings match the router.

Even though I AM in range as I'm right next to the router, and everyone else in my family can connect to it.

Can someone please help me with this because I really need my laptop for my portfolio so that I can get into University.

If you need details of anything just ask, and maybe tell me how I can get the details...

Did you restart the computer after you uninstall the Network adapter?
