"Password _________________ "

as posted here sometimes ago:
http://www.vistax64.com/vista-networking-sharing/278242-win-98-cannot-access-vista-shares.html
is there any solution yet?
i did all subjects mention here

-LMCompatibility=3
-Active Directory Client Extension-installed
-i use no password in my network.
-vista can see 98 and i can access folders
-98 can see vista but i can not get into it. i get the network password box as above...

update-
i choose the same user name & password for vista & win98 (i had none in 98)
now in win98 i can see vista and main shared folders (public & users)
BUT...when i try to open them it takes 5-4 min. during this time the 98 pc "freezes"
[i've no problem at all access winxp, win7 shared folders in win98 pc ] .
i tried to :
-disable AV and firewalls on win vista & 98
-i changed network card options
- i created shared folders in different places on vista c:\
NONE helped :(
ANY IDEA why it takes 4-5 min to open the vista shared folders in win98 pc?
thanks!

Windows 98 Is an Old Operating system and may not have been designed to Handle Shared Folders so that may be the Wait Have you tried Changing the IP Address of the Vista and 98 Machine?

Josh

i found something about it:
Netorking with Vista - microsoft.public.win98.networking | Google Groups
please friends read what the member "Paulincambridge wrote on 3 sep 2007:
This all started working after I tried the Windows Locator change on
the RPC Service
mentioned in some other threads, hope this might help
anyone else
Does anyone knows what he meant ? OR anyone can think of other solution/s?
Thanks!
