Ad hoc connection

I have a Verizon MIFI hotspot. I can find my other pc on network and sharing centre, but when I try to make an ad hoc connection, it asks for a user name and password. I have tried everything I can think of for both and nothing works. I can't see where I might have been asked for a password other than for my user password. When I look in the MS guides I can find nothing about creating or being asked for a password.
I want to be able to send a print request to my printer through my other PC that is hard wired to the printer. I don't think that the MIFI connection is causing any problem, merely windows being difficult on its own.
Any ideas please.

Also Please be Advised when Setting up an Ad Hoc Connection you will need to give it a Network Name and a Security Passcode

This Security Name and Passcode is needed for any other Computer to connect to your Ad Hoc Connection
