If you are not already using Microsoft Security Essentials, please uninstall your current Anti Virus and Firewall

In lieu of your AntiVirus, use Security Essentials, and the Windows firewall. In addition, use malwarebytes for total protection. All this software is free and Security Essentials is made just for Windows. It is usually problem free. There will be no cost for any of this excellent software
If you already have MSE, set up a clean boot to help determine the specific cause of the problem

Be sure to go to the website of your anti virus and use the uninstall tool to remove. In addition, start with a system restore point, in case of any unforseen problems.
