Can't connect to new router

So my house just got a new medialink router and my laptop, which is using windows vista, won't connect to it. It gives a message that says "Wireless authentication failed because of a timeout." The internet works if I connect by cable directly into the router, and everyone else in my house connects wirelessly to this router no problem. I am still able to connect wirelessly to other networks outside of my home. Also, I had no problem connecting wirelessly to our old router, and otherwise my computer hasn't had any issues.

Anyone have any suggestions? I've tried changing security and encryption settings on the router but that doesn't solve the problem either. Thanks!
