I have a hp running vistahome premium, not sure why the internet connection has chaged but it can not go on line wireless. It will connect to a land line. I have a second pc- dell 1330 with vista and can pick up access both local and internet and I compare the two. Under network and sharing, my wireless identifies as (unidentified network) and defaults to public. the "customize " option does not work.
under Network name (where you should be able to type in the network name- will highlight but will not let you delete or retype) and below under network icon: there is no change box to click on...it seems as if it is missing therefore, there is no way to connect even though you can see that there is a connection the network remains unidentified.

How would one fix this...cleary there is missing capeablility. The LAN works fine with all the above items in tact however the WLAN does not have these features working
(no ablity to change the unidentifed network or the icon (which shows up as a computer-the change box is missing)

The funny thing is, my son can take his computer to another house and can go wireless just fine. Here in our home, the (apple airport and prior the lynxis) worked
and at some point stopped working.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Can I ask what wireless are you using, and how far away from the main box are you.

Tom
