Ok this is pretty annoying please forgive my frustration as I explain
I have Vista Home Premium 32bit w/ Service Pack 2
I've been trying unsuccessfully for 5 hours to install my Hawking Wireless USB adapter. My CD-Rom drive isn't working so I'm unable to run the installation disk so I DL the drivers from the Hawking company site.
After installation and system reset the driver & device appear but won't work.
I looked at the the adapter in device manager and there's a yellow triangle near it. I check the properties and it say's "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". Not sure why it's there even after I installed the latest driver.
So then I uninstall it and DL the 2011 driver from the driver company "Realtek" repeat the above steps and I get the same problem.
I've been updating Vista regularly and yes I ran it under admin.
I did look in the driver folder and saw it didn't have one for 32bit I'm not sure if this is the problem or not.
I even un installed the drivers and rest my laptop and redid it. But when you plug in the adapter after the driver is installed I get a pop up that says installing driver it takes a few mins then say's it didn't install correctly. I'm not sure what I'm not doing right.
Ok so I deleted the driver from the adapter and did a clean install of the RealTek driver RTL8192CU for Vista. The driver installed and said it was successful. But the wireless lan utility says "No" in the system tray. I also checked the device manager and the yellow triangle is still there.
