Solved Dell Inspiron 1545 won't connect wirelessly

Ive had my laptop for 2 years and never had a problem with the wireless before now but after moving to a new house it initially connected fine but now either wont recognise the network at all, connects but then disconnects after a few minutes, or recognises and still wont connect. It works fine with an ethernet cable so it cant be my router.

I am using a dell WPAN 1397 mini card, i've run the diagnostics on it and it is working fine and is fully updated. However, when the connection diagnostic for the wireless failed on the gateway IP ping test. How can i fix that?

Ive tried to have a look at similar posts other users have posted. Some say about checking the wireless adapter is on by pressing Fn + F2, this doesnt seem to do anything.

Im really stuck here so i'd appreciate any help, thank you.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me how to solve this IP gateway problem, it is definitely not my wireless card or my router. (I found it was just F2 to switch it on and off) i can get a connection but the IP failure is stopping any sites loading.

I have basically no experience here, (other than having the same computer and some basic troubleshooting ideas) but one of the first things they're going to tell you to do is run a full updated scan with Malwarebytes, since you could very likely have a virus problem. Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download (click download, the free version is enough for the full scan) Might as well get that one out the way for when someone who knows what they're doing comes along, so they'll have one thing out of the way.

Thanks slammer, an item was removed after doing the scan and since then my wireless (fingers crossed) seems to be working fine
