Solved Internet won't connect to WiFi

I can connect to my home router through ethernet with my laptop, and I can connect wirelessly to it with other computers.

My laptop can also connect wirelessly to routers other than the home router. For some reason I'm having issues connecting wirelessly specifically with this laptop through this specific router. I need help troubleshooting. Diagnose and repair said there may be a problem with the DNS configuration.

I can't ping IP addresses either even the internet connection icon on the bottom right of the screen indicates that its connected to both my LAN and internet.

I can't connect to the NAS, so the LAN isn't working either.

Sorry, the title wasn't well thought out. I would have edited it if it was an option.

Hello, lets do some cleaning up and see if that helps you out .
How to Flush DNS in Windows Using the Command Prompt

Step 1 – Close all open web browsers and applications on your computer.

Step 2 – Open the Windows command prompt by selecting the “Start” menu and entering “cmd” in the search text field box followed by clicking the “enter” key.

Step 3 – At the command prompt, enter “ipconfig /flushdns” followed by pressing the “enter” key. After a moment, Windows will display a message similar to: “Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.” Once the message is displayed, the DNS will be flushed removing all incorrect entries.

Then , we want to get the IP reset, so, lets renew its settings and see if this also helps out :
you will type in the command box : ipconfig /release then enter, then next ipconfig /renew then enter, this will reset the IP , now restart and attempt to have it reconfigure its connections to your router. Post back results please.

So, I am having the same issues as above, have done everything stated and still cannot connect to internet. At network and sharing center it shows my computer connected to unidentified network (which on another laptop states home) and then a big red x connecting to internet.

Under unidentified network it states public, which I have changed to private before with no luck, and access as local only, whereas on my other laptop it states local and internet.

Everything worked fine until about 2 weeks ago when we changed internet provider.

any help would be great!

On that page (Network and sharing center) try View Status then Diagnose. It will reset the network adapter
If that didn't help try turning on your wireless on the computer and turn off the router at the wall then turn it on again after a few seconds.
Most times it will find and reset the settings for you.

Hello. I tried this and also the command prompt. My connection is still an unidentified public network with local only access.

I've even updated drivers, updated to windows service pack 2.

I have a 5 yr old laptop.
