no, i can connect with an ethernet cable, but when i try to set up wireless it just says 'can't connect, try again'

yea other computers can get on fine, it's just this one .. diagnostics's only telling me what i already know, that i can't connect to the wireless network, my network adaptor driver's the latest one, it's switched on, the router's switched on

o wait never mind, silly me, i never restored at all, i thought that the dates in system restore were written the american way, the only restore points were for today .. it must clear them automatically every night or something.. what are my options now then?

When it finds files it cannot fix, run 3 more times. If it still is not fixed, we need a repair install. Unfortunately, a Vista install DVD is needed.

alright, hopefully it'll be able to sort it this time.. how much do vista install dvds cost? and do they come in cd form as well, i don't have a dvd drive in my laptop .. or can i find replacements for the broken files online? .. .. o yea, and for future reference, what's a better way of uninstalling norton, so i don't have to do all of this again?

If your computer came with Vista, youi can call the manufacturer of your computer and get the DVD for cost, about $25.00
There are people (not me) that can fix the problems with the files, if any. The usual way to fix it is with a DVD and a repair install. Remember, there is not guarnatee that this corruption is the cause of your problem. I think it may be, since it started with your Norton uninstall.
If you use the Norton uninstall tool there should not be problems. If it were me, before using the tool, I would turn off Norton and try to unintall in safe mode.
