Assign Drive name

Hi,
Somehow I have lost the association with my local net work drive and it's assigned name.
192.168.1.5 was known as \\EXTERNALDRIVE
Now all of the maps to that name fail.
How do I re-establish that name assignment

If you read this from Microsoft, and also the name a drive (upper right), it may help

Thanks for the reply.
You taught me something about ipconfig to display and flush dns,
The fix was to reset the disk drive. After much network investigation I concluded that the Western Digital My Book on the local network was not connected to the network. The white light was not moving up and down like it normally does. I tried the paper clip reset. That did nothing. I unplugged the power and after a few seconds plugged it back in. Now it is working as it is supposed to work. I had even restored to a restore point from yesterday.
I don't see the icon mentioned to respond favorably to your help.

Rename a drive

Assign Drive name
