Can connect wirelessly to Netgear router but not to the Internet

I've just purchased a Netgear N150 usb wireless adapter to use with my DGN1000 wireless ADSL2+ modem router,
I can access the router's web-based interface wirelessly and wireless networks are visible from the Control Panels Manage Wireless Networks but I can't connect to the internet even though my wired connection works, I have no SP installed on my x64 bit OS.

My ISP's technical support couldn't help, the problem doesn't appear to be the signal strength or the wireless network mode which I have configured as 802.11g or 802.11b, do I need to tweak my routers wireless settings in some way or this is an OS issue?

Are you saying you don't have SP2 installed? If not, you should install SP1 and then SP2 before trying to troubleshoot the problem you described.

Thanks for your response wither 3, because I'm unfamiliar with router hardware I wrongly assumed that the router could communicate wirelessly to the internet but it requires a wired connection, which is now working.

Yep, you're right.

You should still install SP1 and Sp2, if you haven't.
