Hello all... I have 9 movies in a video folder on my PC & I watch them on my TV using WD Live Device, but when I open this same video folder on my TV screen it says there in NO Media in this folder...lol ! It has been working fine for about a year now. Friday 6-21-2013 I started gettting this. Now I see this message ( Media sharing is currently disabled, either because the service is not running or your firewall settings have changed.) I have checked EVERYTHING a dozon times over. In services UPnP device is on auto - I have uninstalled & reinstalled Windows Media player 11 & VLC Player & I even turned firewall off. Network map shows all is good so for some reason the WD Live can still see this Vidoe Folder in my PC but cant see the movies there, more over it now cant see any thing in all the folders Im sharing. It shows the folders , movies & pictuers but says there is no media in them ... so as you can see Im lost here so anyone PLEASE HELP !

Regards,

Dale

I had WD set top box. But not the "live" version of it. I'm told MakeMKV can be used with Live to serve up files. You might try it at least as a test.

I don't know why the files would be hidden and not the folders though. That is strange.

Thank you for reply...im being told now it has something to do with the way permissions is set up, I will investigate this further but I dont know much about it.

Another test I do when trying to figure out network file access is to copy some file to the folders that are shared by default. Such as C:\Users\Public on Vista/W7 and All Users on XP. If you can see them there but not in the usual folder then it's a good bet it's a network permission or share configuration issue.
