cannot clear dial-up connection box in windows mail even though I'm on broadband

I used to use a dongle for mobile broadband on my HP G60 Notebook PC x32-bit.

Two days ago I went onto wireless broadband with a router, set-up was all straightforward, the laptop recognized the new hub and connected straightaway - internet and emails worked fine. Fantastic I thought.

But yesterday I switched on the PC to find whilst internet connection was fine for browsing etc I could not access Windows Mail, I can neither send or receive emails - the pesky dial-up connection box keeps popping up. I have followed archived threads here and know I need to uncheck/disable all dial-up connection accounts.

My problem is I cannot access the CONNECTION tab in Windows Mail when I go into TOOLS/ACCOUNTS/MAIL/PROPERTIES. When I do click on CONNNECTION WM shows 'not responding', whites out, and does not change from, say the SERVERS tab, if I happen to have last clicked on that. I have to go into Task Manager and shut down WM.

I have unchecked dial-up connection boxes in IE.

I have searched and searched online the last 36 hours and hope someone may be able to give me an answer.
Maybe I need to unisntall/reinstall WM in some way although I've also discovered technically WM cannot be uninstalled.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
