Vista system backup

I am trying to backup all my system (programs, files, etc) using my Vista
Home Premium, but I guess it cant able to do this (I guess it backup only
files not programs installed).

My computer will go to HP to maintenance and I was requested to backup all
my system to avoid missed them.
I have a second HD (200GB) and I would like to backup all my system to
prevent the HP to format and recover my system at the factory configuration.

So, is there any "free" program to do this?

thanks

You're in a OneCare newsgroup, not the Vista newsgroups, but neither backup in
Windows Live OneCare or Vista Home Premium will do what you want. Both backup
data only. There are probably free partition backup programs, but you may well
get what you pay for. I recommend tryin Acronis True Image to do what you want.
It is about $50 US and well worth it.

Re: Vista system backup

Vista can also do a complete system backup as a mirror image of the hard
drive- at least some versions of Vista. And the Vista version can do it or a
file backup to another hard drive, something the OneCare version can't do-
hopefully in future versions?

Re: Vista system backup

If you have a Seagate or Maxtor drive you can get a stripped down version of
Acronis TrueImage Home for free. It can create an image of a complete hard
drive and store it locally or on the network.

Re: Vista system backup

I have asked the Windows Live Once Care team to provide a 'full system
backup' in Windows but if more people ask for it then maybe we might get it
in a future version, after all it isn't supplied in any of the other
versions of Vista apart from Ultimate. It would then make One Care perfect
in my opinion.
