I have vista home premium. am using live onecare and can't backup to cd-rw or dvd+r. In the help it says the dvd's might not be compatible with live onecare? Does anyone know which brand of dvd's are compatible? My error message is "insert a blank cd/dvd into drive" or "disc is corrupt" even when they are all new blank discs. I had done one backup since installing the program, but when the second backup was requested by the program and it asked me to insert disc 2 into the drive the message was the disc is corrupt. I am using a maxell dvd+r blank disc and also tried a memorex cd-rw?
Please help or if anyone has a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated? |

BUT, if you insert a blank DVD, without OneCare, in the drive, you get the message from windows about "Blank CD inserted, what now?" If not, maybe a firmware update for you drive or try another DVD from another company. If yes, try to burn some other DVDs. If you use you use a DVD burning software they contain a function, "Verify the disk","Check the disk", or however this is named, to compared the burned data with the data to burn. This compare show any errors? Try if you can burn data with the Windows build functions to: - "Send To" contextmenu in the (File-)Explorer - Windows Media Player But in general NO, OneCare not prefer any kind of brand, if you can burn a DVD within Vista you can use it for OneCare. The problem are the drive, maybe the driver for it, but not OneCare. Peter |

I'll add that this can also happen if other software is locking the drive, in effect conflicting with OneCare's ability to detect the disc and burn. You can contact OneCare support for help with this: How to reach support (FAQ) - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsO...21771&SiteID=2 -steve -- Stephen Boots sboots@xxxxxx Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Windows Live OneCare Forum Moderator http://forums.microsoft.com/windowso....aspx?siteid=2 |
