cannot delete Backup

I used Windows Live OneCare on my old computer with an external hard drive
as the location for backups. On my new computer I am not using Windows Live
OneCare (not my choice, long story), but I am using the external hard drive
and need to clear off the backups. I have tried the command line method
using calcs, and I have tried the security tab in properties. I have
disabled UAC. When I try to use calcs in command line, It asks me if I am
sure (y/n) and when I input y it tells me access is denied. when I change
the permissions thru properties and then try to delete it it still tells me
that I need permission. I have given full permission to everyone and my
specific account also. I would just format the drive, but I have like 200
gigs of TV on it that I don't have any other place for. thanks in advance
for any help.

Re: cannot delete Backup

Ah yes this is one of the many posts that I looked at today...
I tried both options. Command line, and properties window. Im stuck...
Should I try it on an XP machine? No matter what I do in command line it
tells me access denied, and even when done thru properties it says that I
need privileges. And when I look back at the folder I am listed as having
full control, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Thanks for your response,
-guitardude
