Windows Defender

I've installed Live One Care trial on my Windows Vista Home Premium system.
After installation Windows Defender is turned off but still loads at
start-up.
Do I still need Windows Defender??

Live One Care is in control of Defender so it appears off to you and yes you
still need it since Live One Card is using it.

Not quite true. The signatures and engine in OneCare are the same as those in
Defender, but Defender is not controlled by OneCare. OneCare disables Defender
on install, but it will be enabled if you choose to uninstall OneCare later.
You cannot uninstall Defender from Vista.

I think it is a matter of semantics I stated One Care controlled Defender
and you said that One Care used the the same signatures and engine as
Defender does. In any case when the One Care service starts it starts up
the Defender firewall engine MSFWDRV so Defender 's firwall engine can not
be removed.
