Installing x64bit over 32 bit

I have just installed x64bit version of Vista home premium over the 32 bit
version but I was only given the option to do a clean install as the upgrade
option was greyed out. When I went to input my serial number it wouldn't
accept it (even though it is a bonefide disk that i sent off for when i
purchased my 32 bit version) I presume that the serial is the same as my 32
bit version as I have had no other serial number?

I therefore omitted the serial number and went ahead with the install, which
went fine and I spent a day sorting out what I wanted to keep and what I
wanted backed up etc etc but I now see that I have a time limit to activate
my account or face windows not working......please help I dont want that to
happen...what do I do...all of my important files e mails are stored on
it....my wife will kill me if she loses all the work that she has done.
Please remember I only have the win vista 32 bit and 64 bit upgrade disks

Thanks in advance
