Re: What RAM rates a 5.9???

My understanding is that WEI is measuring the overall throughput of the system as a whole, and not merely clock speed of the installed DIMMS. So running faster RAM on a slower Front Side Bus won't actually help you much if your bottleneck isn't the actual memory modules. By way of example - Some of you guys are getting lower scores on DDR2 1066 stuff on a 1066 FSB than I am running my RAM at DDR2 800. How can that be, you ask?? I have my Front Side Bus cranked up to 1600 Mhz.

The general consensus is still correct, tho: It's just a general rating. Not some kind of benchmarking tool.

Best (blog) explanation in English I've found in WEI:

I have Kingston HyperX Pc2 8500 Dual Cahnnel RAM. I got the timings as tight as they can get and I got 5.9 on RAM. I also have 5.9 on everything down the list!

I figure I could do some tweeking to get the 5.9 but as long as everything's running smooth I'm happy.

I did try some of the suggestions here and it made things worse! When I changed over from 2T to 1T the BIOS went nuts and said I had some serious issues, LOL!
I've tried changing FSB across the Board including the N $ Southbridge but it's just not doing it. I keep forgetting that the actual FSB with dual Chanel is actualy 533MHz. Everything is matched up and my ratio is at 2:1. How I could get 1:1 is beyond me...

I figure I'm losing it in the latency department but as I said, as long as the system is running good and it is, I could care less about what my score is. Everything else is at 5.9 and what really gets me is that when I started I had a 5.6. Now that I've tinkered and put everything back I'm only at 5.6 for the RAM so I guess Bill Gates just doesn't like Corsair, LOL!

That sounds like it's the answer. Could you tell me where evrything else is set? i.e. FSB, Voltage etc.
I think I'm just going to have to settle with what I've got.
Why in the World I even care is beyond me, LOL!
Everything I run is smooth as can be and thanks to the latest updates from Microsoft, nVidia and all the software Co's.

Re: What RAM rates a 5.9???

Well, I have my machine overclocked. My FSB is set to 450, to acheive 3.6GHz. I have my vcore at 1.425 in BIOS, but under load the chip is getting 1.360v according to CPU-z. My RAM is running at DDR2-1080 at stock 2.1v. Temperatures are approaching 66c under load, so I think 3.6 might be my stopping point.

Re: What RAM rates a 5.9???

I'm getting 5.9 with my memory using these settings:

Go to http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php to download cpuz

That's with my processor running at 2.8 Ghz. I know my memory speed goes down to like 5.7 if my processor is back at the stock 1.8

Re: What RAM rates a 5.9???

Thanks for all the help.
I tweeked the Northbridge Chipset and things are really buzzing now.
After doing so I kept a close Eye on the temps because of all I've read about nVidia's Chipsets and poor heatsinking. I ran Prime 95 for 10 Hours with no errors so all is well in Rangerland, LOL!
