| I Click Home To Much | Re: Post Your Overclock Results. not bad.. i used to have a 5400+, but I never Oc'd it. I replaced it with whats in my current system specs. ![]() and mr grim. no your stepping is not 6.. thats not what I'm lookin for.. lol. if you have the program Core Temp.. it will tell you.. or the box to the CPU will under sSpec. what does it say.. Coretemp will tell you what the stepping is under Revision. but for your CPU Real Temp is a better program to actually use.. so it's up to you. also I've been hearing if people give over 1.45v to there 45nm chips. like the e8000 series and the Q9000 series chips.. anything over that for long periods, they die within 4-5 months.. so I'd stay under 1.4 if I was you.. unless that doesn't matter to you.. and to answer the thermal paste question.. personally Artic Silver 5 is the best.. that over standard silver paste was no cometition. I used some cheap stuff on my old AMD x2 5400+ and temps were 30c. and then with the Atric silver they were 18C.. no lie. your results may vary, but I'd for sure get artic silver 5.. or if you have a Circuit city, or a bestbuy around. there's something called Antec Silver, just by the Antec brand. it's the exact same ingredients. and it works just as well. thats what I have now. it's a bigger bottle for same price. get artic/ or antec silver. and when you apply it, be very careful not to let it hit anything else or it can ruin stuff and short things out get some Isopropyl alcohol. stronger the better. and some Q-tips, and a Coffee filter. thats the cleanest thing to wipe with. the coffee filter. I've used it on all my CPU work. So carefully use the alcohol and remove the thermal paste or pad. then competely wipe everything clean with that.. Now when you actually apply the artic silver. you don't actually need very much, and with the silver. saying Less is more. thats a good saying. if you add to much. it traps the heat in, and makes temps higher. So what you want to try and acheive is actually only use a small dot. the artic silver site actually says put an ammount about the size of an Uncooked Grain of Rice on the CPU.. no need to spread it or anything.. just put it on. and re-seat the heatsink.. and you should be good. |

| Vista Supporter | Re: Post Your Overclock Results. Thanks xguntherc, I will have to try one of those and I was reading some your other post about this subject as well, I'm sure you helped allot of people with your knowledge. I realised about the stepping after I posted it actually and I downloaded those two programs you suggested, it is strange though they give some big differences in core temps. ![]() My stepping, if this is right it is C0 and on the box under S-spec it says SLAPK. The new stepping on the E8600 is E0 which they will be introducing on all of the E8000 series I believe. Anyway thanks heaps for your info and here is a pic of those programs, which one is more realistic do you think, +5c is a big difference. |

CPU: Q6600 IntelCore2Quad 2.4Ghz My max stable OCing was this CPU VID 1.275v FBS: 3262.50Mhz (362.50 x9.0) BIOS CPU voltage 1.318 VID Normal temp with 0~10% load 34~37c with prime95 test 49~51c If I go more during the pirem95 I get Blue screen error So this is the max I could go for now I guess ![]() Special thanks to xguntherc who taught me all about OCing |

| I Click Home To Much | Re: Post Your Overclock Results. Well My Grim.. those are some really good temps. not bad at all actually. and for the e8500.. it's a 45nm Chip.. you are supposed to use Real Temp for temp monitoring. see where it says distance to TjMax, on the 45nm chips like yours and the Q9000 series.. it's 95. and the 65nm chips like the Q66,6700's it's 100.. so on Coretemp the distance is 100, and on real temp it's 95. that shows the difference in the temps by the perfect 5 degree's it's off by. You should use Real Temp. . and yes Grim. the new stepping is E0. and they are supposed to be decently better than the C0, or C1. as they overclock farther, with less volts. and cooler but yours is still a great chip. I'll be getting a new quad with E0 tomorro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and for people like you lightning. you should use Core Temp. and lightning. as for your overclock. thats lookin good. I'll go into the other thread to give you info on how to get rid of that blue screen error and oc farther if you'd like. Well done. Kudo's. I Tipped your scales just cuz I'm glad you completed your overclock goal. or what you wanted to do for now at least.. The scales are like feedback, or Rep points. Keep up the good work guys. Nicely done! |

| Vista Supporter | Re: Post Your Overclock Results. Thanks for letting me know why those temps were so different xguntherc, I am glad the real temp was the lower one, no pun intended. ![]() Hope the new Quad lives up to you expectations, I'm sure we will all be hearing about it. What are you doing with your old Quad, I ask because I have a friend from Macedonia that I met online and his computer got fried by lightning , his family is very poor and said I would send him some parts to build a new one. |

| I Click Home To Much | Re: Post Your Overclock Results. your welcome... so are you going to stay at those speeds. I think they are good. and you should fly with them. and ya I'm pretty sure my new CPU will live up to it. and yes you guys will ALL see the screenshots all over this place. haha. Also I've always sold the items I've replaced. I got a new GFX card. and I sold my old 8800GTS. I got new RAM, I sold my old. but now I'm realizing that if my GFX card, or my CPU. or anything fails. then I'm out of a computer. So from now on I'm going to keep the parts for back-up. so I'll be keeping the Q6700 for a back-up for me. plus it's already going into another system. and I'm taking something to save for a spare.. otherwise I'd help ur freind out. Sorry. |

| Vista Supporter | Re: Post Your Overclock Results. Drop the the multi to 7 and you can put the FSB up to 450 that might work but you will have to raise the vcore to about 1.5v and that will get you to 3.15Ghz or you could just try 8 x 400 for 3.2Ghz. 437.5FSB x 8 for 3.5Ghz Might have some difficulty getting much higher then that I think I was just reading some info on this board and they mentioned the CPU you have at 512FSB Motherboards - nForceĀ® 7 series - nForceĀ® 780 512 x 8 = 4.096Ghz SWEET!!
