If you can't afford to replace the part you're overclocking, then overclocking isn't something you should consider. I know it sounds like a good idea, but really, the only way for you to get any meaningful increases in fps on crysis is to turn your resolution and settings down as far as you can stand. The 8500 gt is limited by its architecture, and so no overclock, no matter how massive, can get the card past its 16 stream processors.

Yeah, sorry about that.

When I was a kid, about to receive a spanking, my Dad used to say, "son, this hurts me as much as it hurts you". Yeah right... This reminds me of that situation.

If it's any consolation, nobody's really getting good fps in Crysis. Just be thankful you didn't spend several hundred dollars to find that out.

lol, yeah agree with Fumz, you arnt really going to get any decent FPS rate with Crysis regardless of having the ability to OC your old card.
Advice: I OC'ed my old Nvidia 6600gt and blew it up lol, so i stand well clear of OC now, usually a few software updates from the developers can sometimes incourage better gaming perfomance, usually i purchase a new card every year. My routine goes like this:
Basically I'm a year behind on the latest cards, i purchase last years "dazzler" and that has the ability to play all games till the following year and so on in good settings, The benefit of this is you can run a majority of the latest games without having to pay £250+ in some instances.
Sorry im rambling now lol, you get my drift thou lol.
