| Vista 64 ultimate, Windows XP 32 Professional, Windows XP 64 Professional | Re: newbie in overclocking Quote: The Athlon 64 features an on-die memory controller,[5] a feature not previously seen on x86 CPUs. Not only does this mean the controller runs at the same clock rate as the CPU itself, it also means the electrical signals have a shorter physical distance to travel compared to the old northbridge interfaces.[43] The result is a significant reduction in latency (response time) for access requests to main memory.[44] The lower latency is often cited as one of the advantages of the Athlon 64's architecture over those of its competitors.[45] Fumz has the right idea, if you are new to overclocking and have an Athlon 64, reading a Conroe how to overclock guide will probably just confuse you. PCIe x16 it is, now to buy my new card. I don't need anything real fancy or expensive and one that works with my systems PSU (350 watt). What I have found is the XFX GeForce 8600 GT, less than $100, so I can't complain. Thanks again every one. Best and Warm Regards Adrian Wainer |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: newbie in overclocking 350 watts and overclocking a AMD Dual 6000+ at 3.0 GHz will be NO problem I had a 250w PSU and a XFX XXX 8600GT overclocked even more than XXX with a AMD x2 5400+ 2.8 GHz and all that ran Fine with a 250w PSU. so he should be fine at 3.0, with the 8600 and a 350w. no worries |
