    Coool.

Well.. It just arrived. I am looking at it now. I have a good batch number and hoping the VID is good also.

I'm going to run those some tests. then start on taking my Mobo out so I can put this baby in.

Also by competely removing my Mobo. and installing a new CPU, I don't need to worry about it booting my old CPU settings right. it will run at default on it's own right sir?

    I'm exited!

Simply removing the board from the case does not clear cmos, which you'll want to do. Before you remove the old cpu, load the fail safe defaults, otherwise, it will boot up with your same settings.

If you've already taken the board out, then just pull the battery for a few seconds... this will also clear cmos.

Load the Fail safe Defaults.. Thats right below the Save and Exit option.. I've not started yet. I was waiting and running a Crysis Benchmark for CPU.

What about if I just hit the Reset Cmos botton. My Mobo has one of those cool little things.. for overclockers.. will that do it. I always hit that if I did a to high Oc and I can't get to BIOS. Should I just do that. and then start to remove it. Or load the Fail safe defaults.. I've never loaded those before. Thats all

The fail safe defaults should be either above or below the 'load optimized defaults' option. It's not like you're unfamiliar with fail safe defaults... it's how all boards arrive at your door.

Going on the premise that there's more than 1 way to skin a cat... anyway you clear cmos is fine, just get it done before you boot up with the new chip.

    All Good.

Thanks Sir. I just hit the Cmos reset button before I powered down. and when I was done it booted up all good. This thing is nice so far. We'll see how it does.
It idles at 32c at stock speed of 3.0 GHz. So hopefully I can crank her up a ways. lol I'll post results later.

    Thanks!

Another good test is to download the demo of something like Cinema 4D and do some test renderings. The quad core CPU's kill dual core cpu's in rendering, and the more MHz you have, the faster it renders.

@xguntherc Now you've done it. Every day I ask the postman where my GUNTHERCERIZED computer is. He's taken a restraining order out against me. Is it lost? Did you insure it, or, "shudder", haven't you sent it. I told you I wanted it.
