CPU temp monitors.

I have a couple..

RealTemp & Core Temp.

They both give different readings.

So.....Which is the more accurate application?

Re: CPU temp monitors.

You could also try speedfan. How big is the different readings.

Re: CPU temp monitors.

Then take you pic on which temp you want to use. It could be how the 2 programs report the temps.

Re: CPU temp monitors.

I hate speedfan. I personally use core Temp 24/7 on start-up/

Here's your problem though. depending on what version of both those you have.. you'll get different readings. basically the new 45nm chips.. the e84-8600's and the Q9000 series chips all run on the 45nm chips instead of the Q6600's that are 65nm chips.. thats the size of the die if you didn't know for the CPU.

No one knew the actual correct settings for these.. but a few months back intel released the proper Tj Max Settings for our chips. your's and mine are both 45nm chips. they use a Tj Max of 100c.. more likely one of or both of your Core Temp, and Real Temp are using either 95c, or 105c on the Tj Max settings. So I'd get the newest Core Temp v0.99.3 as it's correct at 100c tj, or the newest Real Temp v2.75 or later.

Or keep current ones. Basically go into settings in either one you prefer (Core Temp, or Real Temp) and make sure the Tj Max temp is set at 100c.. after you hit apply, the temps will change. that changes how the program reads the temps. and 100c will give proper reads. thats why they are off.. set them at 100c. and then choose what program you like more.

Re: CPU temp monitors.

I've got an interesting one; ive use two programs to measure temp (speed fan and pc wizard 2008) and both say when i have just booted up my cpu is at 80degrees c now thats hot! but it obviously carn't be thats just mad, and after about 5 mins it says 85 degrees and no matter what im doing on my pc thats the temp it stays:s also the fans never ever change speed, BUT pc wizard shows the temps on all 4 cores and they are normally about 30-40degrees:s so i duno any info? AND the fans never ever change speed the gpu fan is always on 16% and the others as u can see on the pic stay as what they are? wtf?? lol

Re: CPU temp monitors.

Is this jump in temperature a result of a change? Like a new OC or something?

What does it say in the BIOS? Under PC Health status or something?

Is that temp being shown in BOTH of your monitoring programs?

Re: CPU temp monitors.

Yes it shows in both programs, I haven't checked The bios. And there's been no changes the PC is brand new.

EDIT: checked bios nothing there at least not that i can find, and it just carnt be turning on at 80degrees i mean im in England lol its cold at the moment, all the cores are normal about 30degrees.
